HR Advisor

Our client is a large local government organisation and looking for an experienced Markets Assistant to join their team

This is initially a 6 month contract which may be extended for the right applicant

You will

To provide HR advice and guidance to employees and managers, acting as the first line of contact for generalist HR support.

To provide first line support for managers undertaking disciplinary investigations and hearings, sickness meetings, supporting performance meetings and other procedures of the council including appeal hearings, liaising with County HR services to escalate in depth cases.

Support County HR services with information requirements

Contribute significantly to HR and OD policy development or review, and maintenance of the staff handbook and associated documents.

To assist with the development of HR / OD and learning and development programmes undertaking staff training in areas relevant to the role, and maintaining the relevant training budget.

To assist with consultation and negotiation with trade unions about HR matters such as service reviews including TUPE transfers and restructures.

To prepare and/or check for issue contracts of employment, statements of particulars, variation letters and other correspondence related to HR policies and procedures.

To provide day to day advice, guidance and support on HR matters to managers and employees including the interpretation and application of national terms and conditions, HR policies and procedures, pensions and employment law.

To assist in the development and maintenance of HR information and management systems

To support the control of the staff establishment and produce comprehensive management information.

To support the recruitment onboarding process by advising managers on contract types, job descriptions and person specifications, advertising, selection tools and processes, participating in selection panels when necessary and developing and improving systems and processes.
