Your new role
As a Management Accountant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of the Accountancy Service Level Agreement. Your responsibilities will include preparing budgets, final accounts, financial monitoring, and providing expert advice on financial matters. You will work closely with service managers and divisional management teams to facilitate budgetary control and interpret financial data. Additionally, you will support the completion of the year-end final accounts process, research legislative changes, and contribute to the development of the finance system. Your role will also involve treasury management, compliance monitoring, and establishing strong working relationships with stakeholders.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you should be part-qualified and actively working towards full qualification, with a minimum of 12 months left until you qualify. You must have substantial knowledge of accountancy principles, financial procedures, and systems, along with experience in producing financial data and reports to specific deadlines. Strong organisational skills, the ability to work independently, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. You should be confident in advising managers, interpreting financial data, and completing grant applications and returns. A good understanding of local government accounting and procedures will be advantageous.
