Manager, Digital Asset Operations

DMI (Digital Markets Infrastructure) is an ambitious large-scale program: complex and uses a range of blockchain architecture patterns, with numerous stakeholders (internal and external) and use cases. The work is focused on the tokenisation of financial instruments, i.e. as digital assets. We seek candidates with an interest in the financial markets with experience of working on large projects. This is a chance to work on an innovative, intellectually challenging project backed by the influential reach of London Stock Exchange Group.

We are looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking Manager to lead the operational setup and process optimization for our new digital assets platform. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a greenfield project, where you'll design, implement, and refine workflows that support our innovative digital products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial operations, combined with a passion for digital assets and emerging technologies.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in analysing, designing, and optimizing operational processes and workflows for the DMI program. This role requires a deep understanding of financial markets, strong analytical skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

In this role, you will be accountable for the design operations workflows to support the DMI vision as well as short term tactical solutions to support the operational foundations of the DMI MVP.

In this role you will work closely with cross-program workstreams, including Market Engagement, Regulatory, Product, Technology, Compliance, Risk as a minimum. You will also interface extensively with operational areas in outside of the DMI program wider within Capital Markets such as e.g. Admission, Market Operations and Post Trade and Market Surveillance, Risk Operations

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Lead the design and implementation of operational workflows for a new digital assets platform, ensuring scalability, security, and compliance from the outset.
  • Develop and document end-to-end processes, including custody, settlement, compliance, and customer onboarding, tailored to digital assets.
  • Establish robust controls and risk management frameworks specific to digital asset operations.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation within existing operations, integrating blockchain technology, smart contracts, and other emerging technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of new processes and systems.
  • Work closely with legal and compliance teams to ensure all operational processes meet regulatory requirements, particularly around AML/KYC, digital asset custody, and data protection.
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) and process maps.
  • Bring your experience of global best practice in implementing operational processes

Essential experience and skills required:

  • Proficiency in process mapping and modelling tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart, BPMN).
  • Proven experience in an operational role in the fintech or financial services industry
  • Proven experience in developing end-to-end operational processes
  • Understanding of digital assets process, issuance, trade and settlement and custody
  • Understanding of blockchain technology and the application of these in an operational business environment
  • Strong intellectual ability and stakeholder management skills and ability to influence key stakeholders
  • Given the nature of the subject matter, the ability to deal with ambiguity and unknows is key, to offer options and potential solutions
  • Superb communication skills; able to articulate ideas to internal and external audiences across all levels of seniority and collaborate with cross functional teams
  • Ability to work optimally at all levels of an organization and build positive relationships with team members, managers, and senior executives across the firm
