About ASEND Teaching Assistants

We are searching for an engaging and robust SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) who is responsible for supporting a specific person that needs some extra support and help them to thrive in becoming an adult.

Applicants should have past experience in working with young adults with special needs, and a deep passion for helping all children succeed, develop and attain. The experience ideally would come from being a Teaching Assistant in school settings or residential/supported living settings, but ASEND is also open to speaking with people who have strong personal experience of children and young people with SEND. We're seeking candidates that describe themselves as being kind and patient and are able to keep calm if challenging situations occur - people that are able to support and engage students in their learning and continue their educational development.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape young minds, change lives and contribute towards the inclusive culture of a school.

About the person

We are supporting a 22 year old man who is autistic and has delayed speech and language. He is a caring and curious young person who loves being outdoors and likes to stay active as he enjoys swimming and going out for walks. He needs some support in developing his communication skills by using PECS and Makaton effectively. He has also expressed that he would like to build his social skills to make more friends. He would like to eventually be able to live independently and wants to learn life skills to help him to do this - he already really enjoys cooking and can go on public transport!

We are looking for a TA who has experience working with autistic young people with global delay and is able to provide extra support by working with an established tutor. Experience with Makaton and PECS would be a good bonus to help further develop his communication skills. Someone who is fun and energetic would also be a great match for this man.

Benefits:

  • Generous and competitive rates of pay
  • Opportunities for professional development and training
  • Friendly support and guidance to enable you to meet the individual needs of learners and to ensure that you feel confident in your position
  • Training in working with children with SEND
  • Join a friendly and supportive team
