Assistant Quantity Surveyor

The London Borough of Hillingdon is looking for candidate with a strong Quantity Surveying background (if possible working towards MRICS, MCIOB).

They will be working on the programme of capital works projects (including education, housing and corporate buildings) and will need to be able to scrutinise the financial and contractional aspects of their allocated projects from inception to completion. Some local authority experience is an advantage but not essential. A broad background would be advantageous, i.e. a mix of professional, contracting and Local Authority.

They need to show experience in leading on the financial aspects of projects, cost control, estimating, contracts and contract administration. They will need adhere to agreed project timescales and be self-sufficient. Finally, they will be required to demonstrate their experience of progressing multiple programmes/projects through to completion.

Working towards MRICS or MCIOB or equivalent

Construction/Property related degree or extensive experience

Evidence of continued professional development

2. STATUTORY or ROLE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

Required from time to time to attend evening meetings

Must have a Driving licence and the use of a vehicle at all times

Ability to fully access buildings/building sites/rough ground in order to carry out the role of the Delivery Manager.

Ability to travel out of Borough to evaluate potential contractors and consultants

3. EXPERIENCE

**(**describe)

Experience of working as a Assistant Quantity Surveyor on both minor and major projects, effectively managing and coordinating cost, commercial and quantity surveying matters in both internal and external project teams, clients, stakeholders, Contractors including quantity surveyor duties under various forms of contracts.

Experience in preparing feasibility estimates, budget costs, cost plans and approximate costs, tender documentation, contracts and ancillary documentation.

Experience (post qualification) of working on a wide range of projects using both traditional and modern forms of procurement and construction

Proven experience of working as a client side quantity surveyor along with managing Client's requirements and expectations

Proven experience of meeting deadlines with effective accurate project reporting at management/project board level

Experience of taking strategic information and translating into project specific operational requirements with the effective communication to project teams and internal staff.

Proven experience of preparing reports relating to the Council's democratic process

Evidence of involvement in change management and delivery of service and professional practice improvements.

Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
