A leading national house builder are looking to recruit an Assistant Engineer to work from their office Ipswich
The role
Based within the Technical Department, the role will be to Assist in providing engineering design and maintain technical support to all regional departments and site based teams to enable the region to achieve its objectives and agreed goals.
Provide Engineering support and technical guidance for regional site and office based operations.
Provide Engineering Support in respect of planning applications.
Provide Engineering Information for land viability purposes.
Instructing, supervising and monitoring engineering consultants for various surveys and structural /civil engineering designs as required.
Ensuring compliance with Building Regulations and Statutory Authorities.
Provide support in relation to demolition, site clearance, road and sewer infrastructure works, utilities, external works and other construction related matters on a variety of residential housing developments.
Engineering and Design
Assistance in the preparation of Land Appraisal Viabilities
Interpret Geotechnical and Environmental Reports
Prepare design solutions for initial road and sewer infrastructure
Satisfactory resolve engineering issues as part of planning application
Finalise plot floor levels and ensure efficiencies of external level designs.
Co-ordinate and manage external consultants to resolve engineering issues in order to allow planning consents to be issued
Interact closely with design and planning team to deliver planning consents
Manage consultants in the preparation of infrastructure, foundation, plot drainage and external level designs
Monitor and resolve any Building Regulation/CML issues
Manage and co-ordinate remediation strategies and ensure regulatory approvals are obtained
Ensure all information is available for Pre-Start Meetings
Ensure all engineering drawings for start on site including infrastructure, foundations and any remediation proposals
Secure necessary technical approval for roads and sewers designs
Provide all utility drawings of existing, proposed and diversions including obtaining competitive quotations from utility providers. Procurement and co-ordination of off-site service reinforcement, diversions, substations, gas governors plot connections etc and ensure all legal agreements are completed.
Obtain street lighting designs and procure new postal addresses and agreeing street name plate specifications and locations.
Produce designs in agreed timescales to ensure regional targets are achieved.
Understand the commercial aspects of design decisions.
Liaise with Local Authority Building Control to resolve technical and design issues.
Attend Project Team, Health and Safety, Site and any other relevant meetings as required.
Must be able to communicate well with all departments and levels.
Ensure all technical approvals/agreements for section 38, 278, 104 and 185 agreements are secured.
Undertake regular site visits and provide on-site support for construction related activities.
Attend Project Team, Health and Safety, Site and any other relevant meetings as required.

Health and Safety/CDM
Understand and promote Health and Safety.
Collate Pre-Construction Information Packs and Information for Health And Safety Plans.
Understand the Designers responsibilities under the latest CDM regulations.
Undertake the Designer Role
Must undertake continuous professional development.

Engineering related qualification with minimum HNC
