Reed Scientific is seeking a Synthetic Chemist to join our client's formulation team in a rapidly expanding company that provides sustainable solutions for crop protection. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting the successful delivery of key projects, developing encapsulation systems, and synthesising active-loaded formulations. This role is suited for a well-organised, detail-oriented individual with excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for innovation in sustainable agriculture.

Day to day of the role:

  • Develop encapsulation systems for crop protection products.
  • Synthesise and characterise active-loaded formulations.
  • Follow safe-by-design protocols in the development of crop protection formulations.
  • Assess physicochemical and active control release profiles.
  • Collaborate with teams to develop and optimise scalable synthetic routes for manufacturing process development.
  • Maintain a clean working environment and adhere to safety and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • MSc Degree in Chemistry or a related field.
  • Experience in an industrial synthetic chemistry lab environment.
  • Proficiency in physical and chemical characterisation techniques.
  • Knowledge of biodegradable materials for encapsulation of bioactive compounds.
  • Understanding of Agrochemical formulation and CIPAC methods.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience in experimental design and data analysis.
  • Full eligibility to work in the UK Indefinitely
