Analytics Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Data Analytics Engineer to serve as the subject matter expert for technical development in Snowflake, Looker, and DBT. What you'll be doing

In this role, you will lead the technical development of Snowflake and Looker, ensuring optimal performance and providing guidance within your team. You will work closely with analysts to implement best practices and offer advice on what's technically possible.

Your responsibilities will include data modelling and working with Looker, Snowflake and DBT to support the business's analytical needs, as well as mentoring and guiding analytics engineers. You will also promote best practices in data warehousing, SQL development, and BI development.

You will play a key role in planning and executing data-driven projects, ensuring that technical solutions align with business objectives. Collaborating with other teams, you will define and establish key metrics to evaluate the success and effectiveness of our initiatives.

Additionally, you will oversee and optimize data models for reporting and analytical purposes, refining existing models to enhance performance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in data analytics, strong proficiency in SQL, Looker, and Snowflake, and a proven track record of successful data projects. Your experience in mentoring and supporting analytics engineers, combined with the ability to work autonomously while guiding others, will be crucial for success in this role.

What experience you'll need to apply

  • Several years of experience as a Senior Analytics Engineer
  • Deep understanding of Snowflake and its architecture
  • Excellent Looker experience
  • Strong Python skills
  • Experience with DBT
  • Proven track record of promoting best practices in SQL and BI development
  • Ability to work independently and mentor team members
  • Commercial experience with production ETLs (big data and data warehousing) and data modelling
  • Comprehensive knowledge of general Data Warehousing concepts
  • Bonus for experience working within an insurance function or knowledge of insurance
  • Experience working in different environments, ideally in start-ups or scale-ups
  • Experience providing technical guidance and mentoring junior analytics engineers

Please note there is a requirement of two days a week in the office in London and therefore we require someone within a commutable distance to commit to this.
