The Role

As a Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in the mathematics department, supporting teachers and helping students excel in this crucial subject. Your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Collaborative Planning: Assisting in the preparation and delivery of interactive and innovative maths lessons that cater to different learning styles, ensuring all students are engaged and challenged.
  • Personalised Support: Providing one-on-one and small group support to students who may require additional help in understanding mathematical concepts, fostering their confidence and abilities.
  • Classroom Dynamics: Contributing to maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment, supporting classroom management, and encouraging positive behaviour among students.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Assisting with the assessment of students' progress, offering constructive feedback on their work, and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Extracurricular Engagement: Organising and participating in extracurricular activities related to mathematics, stimulating students' interest and appreciation for the subject beyond the classroom.

The Candidate

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in Mathematics or a related field.
  • A genuine passion for mathematics and a desire to instil that enthusiasm in young minds.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey complex mathematical concepts to students.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to support students with varying levels of mathematical ability.
  • Previous experience working with young people or in an educational setting is advantageous but not mandatory.
