Data Engineer - Manchester
An established finance business is seeking a dedicated and committed Data Engineer to join their dynamic team in Manchester. The successful candidate will be responsible for the production and delivery of a data warehouse solution, working closely with the Director of Data & Technology. This role offers an exciting opportunity to design and develop a reporting database for Power BI developers, ensuring accurate information delivery from various data sources. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with the data, change, and technology teams within the business to establish data requirements.
What you'll do:
As a Data Engineer, you will play an integral role in setting up a cloud-based Data Warehouse environment. You will be responsible for establishing APIs to all source systems and architecting out a business data model. Your role will involve scripting and populating the data model using stored procedures, creating historical and over time data views, designing QA outputs, and documenting the architect and design processes. You will also maintain a data dictionary of all report elements in use for the business. Working alongside the change team, you will ensure new data elements are appropriately captured. Furthermore, you will identify new technology opportunities for the business ensuring it is aligned to the planned technology journey.
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for this Data Engineer position brings proficiency in SQL (Microsoft SQL Server) and experience with ETL using APIs / XML/ flat files and other data types where necessary. Familiarity with Jira is essential, as well as experience with Confluence for documentation. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, commitment to collaborative problem solving, understanding of business needs, and ability to work effectively within a diverse team.
Salary
The role offers a salary of up to £65,000 in addition to a range of benefits and the ability to work on a hybrid pattern - with the need to visit the office circa 1-2 days per week.
