Rate: £500 per day (Outside IR35)

Duration: ASAP – up to 20 days of work

Myn is excited to recruit a Consultant for our long-term client in the South East of England. This is a unique opportunity to provide critical support for the operation of the Teachers' Pensions Scheme, particularly for teachers and tutors in adult learning on variable hours contracts.

Background:

Following a ruling by the pensions ombudsman, our client needs expert consultancy to address key issues regarding the calculation of full-time equivalent salaries in relation to death in service benefits. Additionally, a comprehensive review of the Council's role as a scheme employer is necessary to ensure compliance and effective administration.

Objectives:

Assessment and Analysis:

Conduct a thorough assessment of current processes related to the Teachers' Pensions Scheme.Focus on variable hours contracts for adult learning teachers/tutors and annualised hours for Surrey Arts instrumental music teachers.Analyse calculation methods for full-time equivalent salaries, especially concerning death in service benefits.

Compliance and Accuracy:

Review the Council's compliance with regulations and guidelines.Ensure accuracy in returns, calculations, and administrative processes.

Recommendations and Improvements:

Provide detailed recommendations for enhancing current processes.Suggest best practices to improve scheme administration efficiency.

Implementation Support:

Assist in implementing recommended changes and improvements.Offer training and support to relevant staff for smooth adoption of new practices.

Scope of Work:

Up to 20 days of consultancy work.Collaborate closely with the Council's relevant departments to gather information and provide expert advice.

Deliverables:

Initial Assessment Report:

A comprehensive report detailing findings from the assessment and analysis.

Recommendations Report:

A detailed report outlining recommended changes and improvements.

Implementation Plan:

A step-by-step plan for implementing changes, including timelines and responsibilities.

Training Materials:

Develop training materials and conduct sessions for staff to ensure effective implementation of new practices.

Expertise Required:

Extensive experience with the Teachers' Pensions Scheme from an employer's perspective.Proven track record of successfully managing similar consultancy projects.
