ACCOUNTS/ADMINISTRATION ASSISTANT

Our client, a specialist consultancy business with an , are looking to expand their team by adding a dedicated Accounts/Administration Assistant at their office in Chorley.

Working in a small team and reporting to the finance manager the successful candidate will have a high level of computer skills, be numerate and well organised. They will also need to be able to communicate well (including on the telephone), prioritise their tasks and have an eye for detail.

They will be expected to carry out some basic administration work and assist in the general day to day running of the office for which a clean driving licence will be required. A knowledge of QuickBooks accounting software and of Microsoft Office is desirable.

A salary of £25,450 per annum will be paid for this full time post of 36.25 hours per week.

Job Description - Accounts Assistant

This is an important role within a busy and growing, highly regarded specialist transport law and training business that provides legal advice, consultancy, and training to a wide range of clients.

The Role

We are looking to appoint an Accounts Assistant to help the business run smoothly and effectively. The role involves:

  • Handling email and telephone enquiries related to financial matters from clients and responding where possible or directing to colleagues.
  • Monitoring, recording and managing financial transactions and client account correspondence.
  • Reporting to and providing general support to the finance manager, and the director in relation to accounting tasks as and when requested.
  • Ensuring the proper management, recording, and filing of all relevant financial documents in accordance with office protocols.
  • Assisting with the preparation of invoices, tracking payments, and managing accounts payable and receivable.
  • Preparing financial reports and summaries as required.
  • Managing and maintaining financial records and spreadsheets.
  • Assisting with month-end and year-end financial procedures.
  • Ensuring compliance with financial protocols and procedures.
  • Keeping the general office and personal workspace clean and tidy and making refreshments when necessary.

The Candidate

Applicants must demonstrate:

  • A confident personality with excellent written and oral interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven administration skills, especially in accounting.
  • Excellent numeracy skills
  • A keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in an organised and efficient way
  • Ability to work proactively, under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Desire to work with a close team
  • Extensive experience of use of IT - particularly Outlook 365, Microsoft Office applications and QuickBooks accounting software

Requirements

  • GCSE A-C in English and Maths (or equivalent)
  • Previous administrative experience in an accounting or financial environment.
  • This is an office-based role at modern purpose built offices in Chorley. Some remote working may be available depending on the needs of the business.

  • Monday to Friday - 9am - 5pm (40 hours per week)
