Mathematics Academic Mentor (Secondary School)

Location: Hounslow

Duration: Full-time, academic year contract

We have an incredible prestigious secondary school committed to providing a high-quality education to its students. With a focus on academic excellence and holistic development, we strive to foster a supportive and engaging learning environment. Our dedicated faculty and staff work collaboratively to empower students to reach their full potential. We are currently seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Mathematics Academic Mentor to join our team.

Responsibilities: As a Mathematics Academic Mentor, you will play a crucial role in supporting students' learning and understanding of mathematics. Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  1. Assisting classroom teachers in planning and delivering effective mathematics lessons.
  2. Providing individual and small-group mentoring sessions to reinforce mathematical concepts and problem-solving skills.
  3. Conducting assessments and tracking students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents/guardians.
  4. Identifying and addressing individual learning needs, adapting teaching strategies accordingly.
  5. Encouraging student engagement and fostering a positive attitude towards mathematics.
  6. Organizing and supervising mathematics-related extracurricular activities or competitions.
  7. Collaborating with the mathematics department to develop resources, instructional materials, and assessment tools.
  8. Attending faculty meetings, professional development workshops, and parent-teacher conferences as required.

Qualifications: To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and attributes:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
  2. Prior experience working with secondary school students in a teaching or mentoring capacity.
  3. Excellent knowledge of the secondary school mathematics curriculum and teaching methods.
  4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage and motivate students.
  5. Ability to differentiate instruction based on students' varying needs and learning styles.
  6. Proficiency in using technology tools and software relevant to mathematics education.
  7. A growth mindset, with a passion for continuous learning and professional development.
  8. Organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
