Elevations Design & Projects division are working with a specialist, bespoke manufacturing business in South Yorkshire in their search for a key Project Engineering role.
The Project Engineer will be a key contributor to the successful delivery of mechanical handling and conveyor projects, taking ownership of technical and commercial aspects to ensure optimal outcomes.
Key Project Engineer duties include:
Project Oversight
- Lead and manage projects from conception to completion, ensuring all deliverables meet the established timelines, budgets, and quality standards
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, clearly outlining scope, milestones, resources, and financial requirements
- Coordinate with internal teams (design, production, and installation) to ensure smooth execution of projects
Technical Expertise:
- Review and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to provide guidance to design and installation teams
- Conduct engineering analysis and calculations to validate design integrity and ensure systems meet performance criteria
- Manage design modifications, variations, and alterations, ensuring alignment with project goals and client expectations
Client and Stakeholder Management:
- As one of the primary point of contact for clients, managing expectations and providing regular updates on project status and any variations
- Develop strong client relationships, demonstrating commercial awareness and the ability to understand and negotiate client requirements
- Effectively handle project documentation, including change orders, variation requests, and contractual amendments
Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare and maintain all project documentation, including technical reports, variation orders, and risk assessments
- Manage documentation for changes in project scope, including alterations and variations, ensuring clear records for client and internal purposes
- Provide detailed project close-out reports and handover documentation, summarizing performance and lessons learned
Project Engineer Education / Skill Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field
- Professional qualifications (e.g., Chartered Engineer status) or working towards such accreditation are advantageous
- 5+ years of experience in a project engineering role within the mechanical handling, conveyor systems, or a related manufacturing sector
- Proven track record of managing large-scale, complex projects with both technical and commercial components
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, with proficiency in CAD
- Experience in budgeting, cost control, and financial analysis related to engineering projects
