Graduate Site Installation Management Trainee

Saint Gobain Off Site Solutions has a unique opportunity for an ambitious graduate to join us in a development programme and train to become our next Contracts Manager in 2-3 years.

The Trainee Contracts/ Installation Manager exists to help review and develop our installation process, and to build skills and knowledge in the site installation and Contracts Management team that span all the OSS brands / solutions.

The Trainee will progress from a 6-month initial time and motion project, where they will learn all about our build process, into a trainee contracts manager position, with the view to take over a fully competent Contracts manager.

Saint Gobain Off Site Solutions are part of Saint-Gobain UK & Ireland and optimises building processes off-site for a seamless delivery to site. Saving time, reducing costs and improving safety

You will be working onsite in Birmingham for the first phase of your traineeship. You must be able to travel to this site 5 days a week to be considered.

What we're looking for:

  • Graduate from a suitable/related discipline - such as Building Materials, Construction, Quantity Surveying, Sub Contractor.
  • Someone who is inquisitive about learning MMC systems, and new construction techniques that help Saint-Gobain achieve their ambitions to be the leaders in light and sustainable construction.
  • Have a strong understanding of traditional build methods, and how OSS solutions can complement them and, in some instances, how the supplement traditional methods (i.e. show the comparison of the two)
  • Understanding of sequencing of construction build programmes.
  • Confidence to make suggestions and professionally challenge the way things are done.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings.

You will need:

As part of your introduction to OSS and to develop your knowledge and insight into our build process the first 6 months will be spent on a time and motion project.

The initial 6-month project

  • Collecting accurate business data related to the time and motion of the construction process.
  • Maintain operational records, such as geotagged photographic evidence of the installation process for compliance purposes, that help us to maintain important accreditations.
  • Focus on making recommendations for continuous improvement;

Trainee Contracts Manager (post-6-months)

  • Inspect traditional build plots to check compliance on issued site working drawings.
  • Learn how to achieve appointed person status for production of crane/lift plans.
  • Review health and safety compliance on site and build scaffold appreciation.
  • Communicating to site managers about future build requirements and feed back into office.
  • Conduct first-fix inspections to check everything is installed correctly before handing back to client.
  • Liaise with sub-contractors
