Head of Operations

Our client is a successful manufacturing business with a healthy order book. They are looking to employ an experienced Head of Operations to help them meet their current and future challenges. The role will involve a high level of engagement with staff and stakeholders and needs an individual with experience of changing hearts and minds and rolling out modern manufacturing philosophy with a good vision for what the factory should look like and how it should operate for the future.

Head of Operations - Responsibilities - Manufacturing, Engineering, Lean, Continuous Improvement

- Set and lead the implementation of the strategic vison and provide leadership to production teams and facilities ensuring they deliver growth and improved profitability expectations.
- Actively support the development of teams through mentoring coaching and training.
- Lead, motivate and develop the teams within production to ensure they operate effectively and efficiently and that individuals achieve their potential.
- Be accountable for all aspects of the site's production performance, ensuring all products are manufactured to right first-time standards and meet customer demand.
- Developing and implementing the operations strategy as it relates to the site, ensuring it supports the delivery required growth of revenue and profitability.
- Implementing improvement programmes, ensuring that profitable partnerships are built and maintained.
- Proactively collaborate with the supply chain team to support the on boarding of new suppliers and developing new partnerships.
- Monitor performance through KPIs and assist in setting financial and budget targets. Provide guidance and leadership if performance needs to be corrected.
- Lead all teams to deliver the strategic plan and business goals, creating a professional and positive working environment and culture.
- Lead on and develop innovations which enhance our operations and create value and profit.
- Work collaboratively with the other parts of the business, particularly Customer Services and Sales & Marketing to ensure the business plays its part in helping the group achieve its long term plan.
- Monitor and review customer satisfaction and implement strategies to improve or remedy areas of concern. Develop or contribute to the development of a Group wide ERP system.
- Be responsible for ensuring that the business meets all of its statutory regulatory responsibility. Taking immediate action if an area is identified with a possible non-conformance issue.
- Take a lead on product quality improvement, implementing standards which comply with the standards in place and reducing returns as a percentage of products sold.
- Drive cost improvements across of operations teams, instilling an efficient mind set and approach.
- Monitor and approve capital spend when required.

- A track record of excellent leadership skills, with the ability to flex his/her leadership style to given situations within a large manufacturing environment. Ability to motivate and inspire complex and geographically diverse teams.
- Self-driven and results orientated.
- Meets and exceeds targets
- Committed and dedicated as well as being adaptable and flexible.
- Excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
- Good understanding of the Manufacturing. Ideally assembly, machine shop, injection moulding and composites.
- Excellent project management leadership skills which uses people management, business planning and customer liaison skills.
- Excellent communication skills, using the correct medium for both message and audience, at all levels in the business.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships across the business
- Strong analytical and IT skills
- Batch manufacturing in a Lot and Serialised environment.
- Operational excellence / lean background
- Educated to degree level in a relevant subject
- Proven track record at senior level in a growing and changing business environment
