Job Opportunity: Mechanical Engineer (with Plumbing Experience)
Location: Hitachi Rail Bounds Green Depot
Shift Pattern: 4 days on, 4 days off (7am-5pm / 1pm-11pm)
Salary: £36,000 - £38,000
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer with plumbing expertise to join our expanding team at Hitachi Rail's Bounds Green Depot. This role involves carrying out maintenance and reactive repairs across various commercial plumbing and drainage systems, including pipework adaptations and small installations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct maintenance and reactive repairs on commercial plumbing and drainage systems.
- Handle pipework modifications and installations.
- Provide a high standard of service to the client, responding to queries, reporting defects, and keeping them informed of ongoing site activities.
- Accurately complete work-related documentation, maintaining inspection logs and reports of remedial work.
- Adhere to Health & Safety regulations, including Permit to Work procedures and safe working systems.
Ideal Candidate:
- Qualifications: NVQ qualification in Engineering Maintenance (multi-discipline) or similar.
- Skills: Ability to work independently, with a good understanding of building statutory compliance and a working knowledge of APOC L8 water management.
- Experience: Familiarity with maintenance or facilities management environments.
- Technical: Capable of reading and understanding technical drawings and using a PDA to manage workflows effectively.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
The role requires someone with good problem-solving abilities, a proactive attitude, and a willingness to adapt to different tasks, including general mechanical and electrical work.
Requirements:
- Basic DBS security clearance (post-employment).
- Physically able to fulfil the duties required.
- Flexibility to work a shift pattern of 4 days on, 4 days off (7am-5pm / 1pm-11pm).
