School Cover Supervisor

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Cover Supervisor to join our secondary school team in Blackburn. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring that students remain engaged and on task with their learning activities. This role is essential for maintaining the continuity of education and supporting the school's commitment to high academic standards.

Key Responsibilities

Classroom Supervision: Supervise students in the absence of their regular teacher, ensuring a positive and conducive learning environment.

Instruction Delivery: Deliver pre-prepared lessons and learning activities as provided by the absent teacher, ensuring students understand and engage with the material.

Behavior Management: Maintain good order and discipline among students, following the school's behavior management policies and procedures.

Support Learning: Assist students with questions and provide guidance on their work, fostering an environment of independent learning.

Administrative Duties: Complete administrative tasks related to lesson delivery, such as taking attendance and reporting on student progress and behavior.

Collaboration: Work closely with teaching staff and senior management to ensure the smooth running of classes and the school's daily operations.

Professional Development: Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and stay updated with best practices in education and supervision.

Qualifications and Skills

Educational Background: Minimum of GCSEs in English and Mathematics; A-Levels or equivalent qualifications are desirable.

Experience: Previous experience in a similar role or working with young people in an educational setting is preferred.

Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage groups of students effectively.

Knowledge: Understanding of the secondary school curriculum and basic teaching principles.
