Job Title: IT Engineer (Multi-Hire)

Location: Sussex (travel across GP practices required)

Contract Length: 5-month rolling

Job Overview:

We are looking for skilled IT Engineers to support the delivery of a new technology operating model within GP practices across Sussex. You will work as part of two teams, each comprising three engineers, to ensure the smooth setup and implementation of IT infrastructure across various sites.

This project involves conducting site audits, implementing new IT equipment, reconfiguring existing systems, and providing post-implementation support. Your role will be essential in streamlining IT equipment and enhancing the overall performance of the technology in use.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Site Audits:
  • Conduct detailed audits of existing personal computing equipment in GP practices (1-2 days per practice).
  • Create and submit site audit reports, detailing current IT infrastructure, to support streamlining decisions.
  • Each site typically has between 20-150 PCs, with a mixture of desktops and laptops (with or without docking stations).
  1. Streamlining Implementation:
  • Collect new IT equipment from designated storage locations across Sussex.
  • Install and configure existing and new IT equipment according to provided instructions and work packages.
  • Work with remote support teams to verify correct server configurations.
  • Re-image endpoint devices (outside GP surgeries, at designated locations).
  • Identify, reinstall, and test critical clinical software such as EMIS, Docman, SystemOne, and other relevant applications.
  • Complete all required paperwork, including progress reports, asset reports, stock updates, and ad-hoc delivery documentation.
  • Provide on-site post-implementation support, troubleshooting common issues like printer or endpoint malfunctions.
  • Obtain sign-off from each practice once work is completed.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an IT Engineer, preferably within healthcare or similarly complex environments.
  • Strong knowledge of installing and configuring personal computing devices (desktops, laptops, docking stations).
  • Experience with clinical software such as EMIS, Docman, SystemOne is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with both on-site and remote teams.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, particularly in post-installation support.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to follow detailed work packages and complete comprehensive documentation.
  • Flexibility to travel across Sussex and work on-site at GP practices.

Contract Details:

  • Duration: Project-based, typically involving 1-2 days of site auditing and 1-2 weeks of streamlining implementation per practice.
  • Travel: Travel across Sussex is required to various GP practices and storage locations.
