SRU Enforcement Officer

JOB PURPOSE:
To provide a visible presence within Merseyside relating to road traffic enforcement activity thereby supporting the force in delivering the Safer Roads Agenda; being responsible for the capture, validation and processing of offences captured by static and mobile speed cameras.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
The post holder spends a large part of their working day alone and without direct supervision in a highly visible and public facing role.

Accordingly they must possess ability to use and act on their own initiative, possess a high level of interpersonal and effective communication skills, especially an ability to defuse either a potential or actual confrontational incident.

An ability to interpret Force Policies and Practice is desirable and an understanding of operational frontline policing would also be desirable.

Hold and maintain a current Personal Safety Programme qualification.

Successful completion of 4 day IOSH Managing Safely Course in order to conduct meaningful scheduled risk assessments of road safety cameras and potential sites for suitability.

Extensive understanding and experience of all aspects of the operation of automatic and mobile road safety camera devices and road traffic legislation to comply with manufacturer and NPCC guidelines.

Initial successful completion of Home Office Approved course for use of Cubic Digitalisation of Cameras including a 2 yearly refresher.

Initial successful completion of course for use of Teletraffic Lastic Handheld mobile device including a 3 yearly refresher.

Working knowledge/desire to learn various force IT Systems, Microsoft products including Outlook and force intranet to enable service delivery.

Must be highly organised and have the ability to work under pressure and prioritise work due to demanding workloads and timescales.

Must be physically able to lift cameras and associated equipment and complete and pass a manual handling course.

Possess a current full and valid driving licence and pass a police approved driving assessment and undertake 5 yearly requalification.

Please Note: this role is subject to a SRU Enforcement Officer Shift Pattern which attracts an Equalisation Allowance of 10.83%
