We have a fantastic opportunity with our client, to sit on the senior leadership team and manage an HR team, consisting of 11 experienced individuals across payroll, Talent, L&D and HR, in a close-knit and collaborative environment. As the Head of HR, you will report to the FD and take responsibility for the HR department, looking after employees on a regional basis, covering the ‘South East' across 12 main sites and supporting approximately 950 employees.

Head of HR Responsibilities

This is a hands-on, varied, strategic and operational generalist Head of HR role, providing full HR services that align with overall business requirements, adding value and implementing best practice. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to ensuring recruitment compliance and best practice, for a high-quality candidate experience. Measuring and reporting on employee engagement, liaising with L&D to ensure innovative and engaging learning opportunities are offered, and overseeing the payroll function, advising and guiding the payroll officer as required. You will also manage employee relations and remain abreast of employment law updates and changes. You will update and review policies and guide and support on complex HR issues.

Head of HR Experience

To be successful in this role, you must be CIPD qualified to Level 5 or above, and an experienced senior level HR professional and you must have current or prior experience of managing a team of at least 5-6 people within an organisation with a minimum of 200 employees. You will have experience working in a multi-site management role and will ideally have worked within a large manufacturing, logistics, or similar business.

You will have excellent attention to detail and a proven track record of delivering work on time and to a high quality. You will be reliable and happy to do whatever work is needed to support the HR team. You must have knowledge and expertise across talent attraction and retention, payroll, employee relations, wellbeing, DE&I, learning & development, policy development. You will do what is best for the brand and reputation in order to become an employer of choice, dealing with any employee relations issues early and mitigating risk and providing a good employee experience.

You will have previous experience of guiding, advising, coaching and challenging in order for decision-making and be confident and commercial in your approach. You will have a 'can-do' attitude and strong understanding of HR best practice and UK employment law. You will be a team player and leader, customer-focused, empowering, quality driven and professional.

You will need to be able to hit the ground running and although there is autonomy and buy-in from the board to implement HR changes, updates, new system and policies etc, the ideal person would be somebody who is not looking to come in and change everything that is already working! You must have a solid work history and longevity in your career to date.

Location

Located in South Oxfordshire, close to Wallingford. Please ensure you live within easy commuting distance as this is predominately an office-based role and will require travel to other sites and so you must be in the OXFORDSHIRE area.

This role is full-time, permanent. Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm with some flexibility based on business needs.
