Job Summary:
The purpose of this role is to assist the clinical team in the delivery of an excellent care to the practice population. The post holder will work under the supervision of the clinical team and undertake tasks and duties delegated to them and also collaborate with the larger community teams to meet the needs of patients whilst adhering to NHS protocols, policies and procedures.
Candidates need to have sound knowledge and previous experience of working as an Auxilliary or Assistant Nurse in primary or secondary care setting. You will need to be adaptable to operate in a demanding and busy environment and have the clinical skills and ability to function as a lone worker as well as part of a team. Candidates should have excellent communication skills; and the ability to provide care as determined by the clinical assessments. Candidates will have undertaken professional development and have extended nursing skills, with evidence to support this.
At times the role may require remote working, home visits and travel around the local community. You will ideally have a full drivers licence and access to a car, however applicants without driving licence will be considered.

Carrying out health checks including but not limited to height, weight, body mass index, pulse rate & rhythm and blood glucose monitoringCollecting blood samples from patientsUrinalysis and preparation of specimens for investigations by the pathology laboratoryPerforming ECGs
Providing wound care and dressingsTo administer vaccine like influenza, pneumococcal and shingles on the written instructions of a GPTo support and monitor patients during nebuliser therapyCalibration and safety checks for certain equipmentMaintaining fridge temperaturesEnsuring all infection control procedure and policies are followed all the timeSegregation and disposal of clinical waste in an appropriate wayTo act as a chaperone for other clinicians in line with the organisations chaperone policy

We are a GMS practice based in the Great Lever area of Bolton within a purpose built building. A high proportion of our practice population comes from Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) community and many of them do not have English as their first language. We are really determined to address the social deprivation, health inequalities and mental health issues in our community.
The practice team comprises of GPs, Nursing team, PCN Workforce, ARRS staff and a supportive admin / management team.
The clinical system is EMIS alongside Docman 10, Ardens, Accurx and Iplato.Our practice have regularly been performing high on QOF and BQC.
The practice location benefits from being close to motorway network with onsite parking.
