Senior Management Accountant

Joining a diverse and experienced Finance team, you'll take on a role of unique variety, producing management information and external reporting for a number of different public and private entities.

Adopting a business partnering approach, you'll ensure that the specialist advice and support you provide is business-focused, pragmatic and reflects best practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will produce regular and accurate monthly management accounts for your areas of responsibility.
  • Acting as a business partner to budget holders, you'll provide support, advice and analysis, handling additional ad hoc management accounting requests when required.
  • Your timely financial planning and reporting will be vital, preparing consolidated financial statements and accurate forecasts and budgets, as well as providing tax advice.
  • You'll also ensure that all financial transactions are adequately controlled, accounted for and recorded, with overall responsibility for the accounts ledgers package used by the team.
  • Other financial control related aspects will include oversight of the accounting, payment and expenses systems, new supplier process and balance reconciliation.
  • Managing two ledger administrators, you will guide, develop and support the team, whilst also looking to refine our procedures and policies to improve efficiency,

No two days will be the same and you'll work to prioritise multiple conflicting deadlines. Yet in all that you do, you'll rise to the challenge and deliver faultless accuracy and a first-class service to this unique organisation.

Essential Criteria

  • You're a technical expert in your field, with an CCAB qualification (or equivalent) and substantial previous experience in accounting and auditing, looking to apply your knowledge in a new environment.
  • Technically competent with strong IT skills, you'll be confident in all aspects of financial accounting, including producing reports, posting journals and preparing accounts.
  • You will be able to quickly absorb, process and apply new information and have an organised and logical approach to accounting, making you an asset to the team.
  • With an analytical mindset, your problem-solving skills are exceptional, and you'll be able to objectively work through procedures to iron out inefficiencies.
  • You're able to effectively plan and manage your workload and handle multiple deadlines on a regular basis.
  • Flexible and accurate under pressure, you're able to adapt to meet changing priorities and feel comfortable with a high level of responsibility and variety in your work.
  • A good communicator with a collaborative approach, you'll be able to convey complex information and advise at all levels, building strong working relationships within your team and around the organisation.
