Job Title: HGV Mechanic/Plant Fitter
Reports to: Transport Manager
Position Summary:
Blue Arrow is currently recruiting for an experienced HGV Mechanic/Plant Fitter on behalf of our client, a metal recycling business based in Edinburgh. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining and servicing a fleet of HGV vehicles, other company vehicles, and various pieces of plant and machinery within the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct high-quality inspections, services, and repairs of the fleet of HGV vehicles and other company vehicles.
Collaborate closely with the transport administration function to adhere to planned work schedules and meet the company's 'O Licence' requirements.
Perform inspections, servicing, and repairs of various pieces of plant and machinery as required.
Independently handle routine servicing and site breakdowns, ensuring efficient completion of tasks.
Diagnose and rectify electrical and mechanical faults within the fleet.
Adhere strictly to company health and safety policies and guidance documentation.
Provide assistance with MOT preparation and inspections as needed.
Undertake any other reasonable tasks that may arise within the workshop.
Essential Requirements:
Qualified HGV Mechanic.
Previous experience in a workshop environment.
Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Requirements:
HGV licence.
Working knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems.
Familiarity with vehicle inspection standards and scheduled maintenance requirements.

Initiative and the ability to work independently.
Hours & Pay:
Monday to Friday: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm + overtime opportunities.
Saturday: 8:00 am to 12:00 pm (overtime).
Salary dependent on experience, with overtime paid at time and a half.
