Senior Embedded Software Engineer

We have a superb opportunity for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join one of Cambridge's hottest medical devices technology companies. The company is currently going through a period of rapid growth and expansion in their purpose-built R&D centre, offering excellent opportunities for further career progression and personal development!

In this role the Senior Embedded Software Engineer will have a high degree of autonomy to lead the development of next generation embedded software and firmware for innovative diagnostic systems – in particular In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) development, including operating under ISO13485 and IEC62304. The successful candidate will have strong software development skills utilising C / C++ to develop safety critical software (Bare Metal and RTOS) and ideally further skills in Python. Candidates should also have prior experience in software verification and a passion for hands-on technical work.

A non-senior role is also available within this company for a suitably qualified Embedded Software Engineer.

Requirements for Senior Embedded Software Engineer (Medical devices):

  • Recent and relevant experience of at least 5 years in developing software and troubleshooting hardware issues.
  • Proven experience in developing complex Real-Time Operating Systems RTOS) and bare-metal development for safety critical systems.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ programming languages, and confidence in working with embedded systems, including the ability to interpret electronics schematics and execute I/O operations.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies, and significant experience in formal software verification.

Beneficial:

  • Experience in C# and Python programming languages.
  • Familiarity with MS Azure RTOS and MS Windows development.
  • Enhanced understanding of electronics, including the ability to interpret component datasheets.
  • Applied physics and/or engineering proficiency in mechanical, thermal, and optical systems.

Salary:

£55k-£70k (dep on exp) + Generous Bonus Package!
