Senior Project Manager Mission Rehearsal Projects

Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager to lead and oversee mission rehearsal projects related to weapons and trials. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional project management expertise, along with strong stakeholder management skills, to ensure the successful delivery of complex and high-stakes projects. This role will be based in our Bristol office and will require occasional travel to project sites and stakeholder locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership - Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of mission rehearsal projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Stakeholder Management - Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including military personnel, government officials, and defense contractors. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration to align project goals with stakeholder expectations.
  • Risk Management - Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to address them. Monitor and manage project risks to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Resource Management - Allocate resources efficiently and effectively to ensure project milestones and deliverables are achieved. Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to secure necessary resources.
  • Budget Management - Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring financial targets are met. Provide regular financial reports and updates to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Quality Assurance - Ensure all project deliverables meet the highest standards of quality and comply with relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Reporting and Documentation - Prepare and present project status reports, documentation, and briefings to senior management and stakeholders. Maintain comprehensive project records and documentation.
  • Continuous Improvement - Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance project performance and efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience - project management experience, with at least 5 years in a senior project management role within the defence or aerospace industry.
  • Education - Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is highly desirable.
  • Stakeholder Management - Proven track record of successfully managing relationships with high-level stakeholders, including military and government entities.
  • Technical Knowledge - Strong understanding of mission rehearsal systems, weapons, and trials processes. Experience with defence systems and technologies is essential.
  • Project Management Skills - Expertise in project planning, scheduling, risk management, and budget control. Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Communication Skills - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
  • Leadership Skills - Strong leadership and team management abilities, with a demonstrated capacity to lead cross-functional teams and drive project success.
  • Problem-Solving - Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and make informed decisions under pressure.
  • Security Clearance - Eligibility for UK security clearance is mandatory.
