Marketing Manager

Posted by AF Selection.

We're working with a leading player within the professional services industry as they grow their internal marketing function, and we're looking for a Marketing Manager who is happy to be involved with implementation. This role can be remote based with specific travel to London at least oncer per month, but there will also be UK travel as an essential element.

The role:

The business model for growth of this top 10 firm over the last couple of years has been laser-focussed on acquisition and the increase in the marketing team is now natural progression for that. Initially, you'll be working with and reporting into the Marketing Director, working closely with an agency although the long term plan is to increase the number of internal marketers and have less reliance on the agency offering (even though they're superb! They're currently in the process of rolling out new branding, so the main elements of this role will be brand ambassador and management, and brand transition, rather than creating a new brand from scratch.

The business is quite complicated in that there is no 'one-size fits all' marketing strategy as each office has its own products and some really key specialised brands, so whilst the branding will be the same across the country the marketing requirements will be very different, so you'll need to liaise extensively with internal stakeholders to identify requirements and then be involved with the implementation, managing the agency elements of that process. You could be involved with providing specific product marketing assistance, or developing social media postings. You'll manage quarterly newsletters and will collate content from around the UK and Ireland as well as arranging exhibitions and conferences.

You'll liaise with the external agency but also colleagues in the US, ensuring any brand tweaks are carried out across the UK platforms. You will work from home predominately, but with offices throughout the UK, you should expect to be travelling at least oncer per week to a specific site.

What we're looking for:

We're looking for a very strong number 2 for this growing marketing team, and it's essential you're the kind of person who wants to build strong relationships across the business, in person as well as over calls. This role might be home based, but you really shouldn't expect to be in the home office 5 days per week. You'll likely have a marketing degree or similar, and at least 4 years' experience either gained from an agency role or an inhouse role where you've been involved with the full marketing mix - this is absolutely a role for a marketing generalist rather than someone who wants to specialise.

This is a small team and you will not have anyone to implement the workload for the immediate future, so you must be happy to get your hands dirty, but you'll also be confident and happy to liaise with people at all levels of the business both in the UK and the US. You'll definitely need some experience within a business-to-business environment, but professional services or financial services are not a pre-requisite for the role.

What's on Offer?

As we've mentioned, this is a home-based role, but if you wanted to work in an office more, there's nothing to stop you doing this, you'd just need to be commutable to one of their UK offices situated in Birmingham, Chester, Bristol or Edinburgh. You will need to meet in London at least once per month and travel to the other offices should be expected. Salary is between £40-60,000 and this will very much depend on experience, there's also private health, death in service, 5% pension contribution and a gym allowance. There's 25 days holiday plus Christmas shutdown and your birthday off and access to a wellbeing app.

This business has managed to maintain a really down to earth and friendly approach despite its size and they retain very local values. This is a role where progression is all but guaranteed as the firm has huge plans to continue its growth within the UK which will naturally lead to a larger marketing presence.
