3D CAD Technician / Draughtsman for Set Construction

The Client:

A leading set production company supplying set and decoration to a wide range of product launches, fashion shows, exhibitions, and private events Primarily they provide design, scenery, lighting and AV.

Role Summary:

Our client is looking for a candidate who can assist design and deliver exiting projects to their clients, working on product launches, fashion shows, exhibitions and parties. The role will involve technical knowledge and experience in using 3D modelling, Auto CAD, Sketch up, Illustrator and Photoshop.

We need a detail-oriented Technical Designer to join a vibrant team. In this role, you will be at the heart of the creative process, transforming visionary concepts into precise technical drawings and 3D models. Your work will be pivotal in bringing imaginative set designs to life, ensuring the artistic vision shines through in every project.

Responsibilities:

Create detailed technical drawings and stunning 3D models using AutoCAD and SketchUp.

Collaborate closely with the design and production teams to develop accurate and functional set designs.

Ensure all drawings and models align with project specifications and creative standards.

Provide technical support and innovative solutions during the design and production phases.

Maintain an organised and accessible database of drawings and design documents.

Assist in calculating material requirements and selecting the perfect materials for each project.

Adapt and refine designs to accommodate changes and overcome challenges during production.

Essential Requirements:

A keen eye for design, detail, and finish.

Proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp (3D Modelling).

Strong time management skills.

Experience in technical design.

Good understanding of materials and their creative applications.

Solid technical knowledge of set construction and production.

Exceptional problem-solving skills.

Adaptability and creativity in a fast-paced environment.

Familiarity with CNC machinery.

Experience designing for machine cutting.

Knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Ability to calculate material requirements accurately.

Office hours are 8am until 5pm Monday to Friday with additional overtime required on occasion.
