Governance Stakeholder ManagerBirmingham, West Midlands (with hybrid working)
As a member of our governance team, you will lead on engagement with a range of groups who provide input and advice into the Gambling Commission, including representatives of the gambling industry, gambling consumers, academics, and digital experts. You will work collaboratively with colleagues from across the Commission to ensure we receive the input we need at the right time and in the right way to add maximum value. This will include recruiting and inducting new group members, analysis and problem solving, written advice and input, events, and face to face meetings.

Your Role
In this role, we're looking for someone with a background in external affairs, stakeholder engagement or governance.
You will be gathering input and advice from key stakeholders and building successful relationships to ensure the Commission receives high quality information and evidence to support strong decision-making.
You will help group members understand and engage with the Commission, analyse, and communicate the advice and evidence the groups impart.
You will take group members from recruitment to end of term of office, maximising their impact in their role.
You may be asked to take part in a small amount of UK-based travel as part of your role to attend meetings or events. These will be funded through appropriate travel and subsistence.
- It's about relationships. You will work with colleagues across the Commission to identify when additional input will be most valuable and delivering that input. You will build a strong relationship with the groups you support and build their confidence in the value of their insight to the Commission. You will need to manage conflicting points of view and remain open minded.
- It's about communicating confidently. You will gain an understanding of the stakeholder landscape and the interplays at work. You will help colleagues and the groups you support to communicate with one another most effectively.
- It's about transparency. You will ensure the input and proceedings of the groups you support is open and accessible. You will help draft contributions to ensure they reflect the views of the groups and can be published.
- It's about governance. You will support the Commission's high standards of governance, including managing conflicts of interest.
- It's about problem-solving and analysis. You will help group members analyse and weigh their evidence and insight and ensure it is communicated accurately and with impact.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Excellent written and oral communications skills with proven experience of engaging a wide range of stakeholder audiences through a range of approaches, online and face to face.
- Experience of executive/non-executive stakeholder management.
- Ability to analyse evidence and present it in a compelling and understandable way.
- Experience of preparing briefings, policy documents and presentations, writing correspondence, including the ability to take detailed notes in stakeholder meetings.
- Excellent understanding of governance processes including managing conflicts of interest.
- Experience of managing conflicting views.
- Experience of planning and delivering meetings and engagement (online and face to face).
