About the role

While people will always be at the heart of our Society, we also recognise the increasingly powerful role data will play in our future success. So as we grow, we're continuing to strengthen our capabilities and now have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Data Engineering Capability Manager.

Working on our data modernisation ecosystem project, this person will play a pivotal role in maturing the Society's data engineering capabilities and will be responsible for defining new approaches for data engineering. As well as assisting in shaping the data engineering framework in the Society, the person in post will also be responsible for coaching our team of data engineers to use modern day, state-of-the art practices.

The Senior Data Engineering Capability Manager will work closely with business stakeholders to understand their challenges and opportunities and will provide thought leadership and coordinate the delivery of solutions in support of member outcomes and the Society's strategic plan.

About you

As an experienced leader you'll be able to lead teams and provide ongoing coaching and oversight over the development of data products through an agile methodology.

You'll have extensive experience in building data pipelines using principles such as: version control, automated testing, CI/CD, scheduling, orchestration and alerting/ monitoring.

Experienced in cloud engineering with the ability to implement well architected frameworks, serverless solutions and improve existing platforms with Agile delivery methods.

You'll also have demonstrable experience of Python 3, Python data management/manipulation libraries and usage of Python with cloud components.
