Overall purpose: To provide a commercially focused collection service of domestic, recycling and trade waste, maximising all opportunities. This role will have a significant influence on the day to day running of a busy waste collection mode and the overall service levels provided to our customers. To work in full compliance with all legislation regarding the activities and in particular the Goods Vehicle Operating Licence. To understand the financial performance of the CWR function, reporting on its performance and working with the Transport Manager, Commercial Manager and Sales Team to drive improvements.

Key responsibilities and Accountabilities:

1. To assist in the running the CWR account of a commercially focused transport operation, particularly close working relationship (pro-active) with Customer Services in order to deliver efficient service, minimise rolled jobs and maximise service delivery.

2. Co-ordinate the day-to-day allocation of drivers, vehicles and work requirements. Continually monitoring, achieving maximum efficiency and providing the most effective services. De-briefing the drivers to discuss job issues and fails.

3. Co-ordinate the re-allocation and cover of work as a result of driver absences and all day-to-day re-allocation of driver staffing requirements.

4. Ensure any absences or gaps in staffing are covered for CWR in the most commercial and effective manner.

5. Ensure drivers are using the tablet in the correct manner that, job times and weights are recorded correctly.

6. To monitor, reschedule, re-plan routes to optimise time, route density, running costs to maximise productivity via re-routes.

7. To ensure missed collections are rearranged as soon and cost effectively as practicable and sales and customer services teams are made aware..

8. Monitor and review the productivity of all aspects of collection services, identify, plan and implement changes as and when necessary to achieve maximum efficiency, effectiveness and economic performance, with a high standard of customer care.

9. Provide a high level of customer service at all times to external and internal customers.

10. Manage seasonal re-routes for the RCV rounds, ensuring they are as efficient as possible and taking into account work won not yest started. Liaise with sales team during this process to consider impact on customers and new sales strategy.

11. Work closely with the sales team on ensuring new customers are booked on and scheduled correctly.

12. Calculate profit/loss by RCV route regularly, report into the Transport Manager and Commercial Manager and develop a plan to make improvements

13. Work with the preparer of the CWR daily and weekly profit KPI (Group Admin or Finance team) and monthly management accounts to understand the results and develop a plan to make improvements

14. Review profit/loss by customer job to identify pricing issues with customers. Where required review specific customer accounts to ensure overall profitability.

15. Ensure that events are routed into the rounds and deliveries and collections are booked on in a timely manner.

16. Lead on all current and new 'event' opportunities within the Coastal Recycling remit and ensure revenue and profit margins are maintained / enhanced.

17. Ensure ordering and delivery of wheelie bins is conducted in a timely and business critical manor, monitor ongoing bin stock levels to enable swift deployment to new customers.

18. Report regularly on job failures and develop a plan to reduce them as much as possible.

19. Train other team members to cover your role during absence.

20. Be aware of and follow policies and procedures, with particular attention to standards of customer service, health and safety, and equality and diversity.
