We are now looking for a Planning Enforcement Officer to join us on a part-time, permanent basis, working 22.2 hours (3 days) per week.

The Role

As a Planning Enforcement Officer, you will undertake a range of planning support activities to helping to conserve and enhance the natural and built environment of the National Park.

Your primary responsibility will be to investigate complaints and contraventions related to the Town and Country Planning Act and related Acts. You will ensure that any infringements are addressed and brought under the appropriate planning controls.

Conducting site visits, you will gather evidence of breaches, monitor compliance with issued notices and liaise with complainants, neighbours, developers and other enforcement agencies.

You will draft enforcement notices, reports and witness statements, maintain both paper and computer records of investigations and assist in developing a computerised system for recording complaints and breaches.

Additionally, you will:

- Prepare reports on unauthorised developments for the Planning Committee
- Identify options for correcting breaches and advise homeowners and landowners accordingly
- Serve Enforcement Notices and Court Summons
- Prepare statements for prosecution, enforcement and appeal cases
- Represent us at Public Inquiries, Magistrates and Crown Courts
- Advise members of the public on general planning inquiries

About You

To be considered as a Planning Enforcement Officer, you will need:

- Experience working with the public and private bodies and/or agencies, resolving complex and possibly contentious issues and undertaking consultation and negotiations
- Experience understanding and interpreting complex policies and conditions
- Experience creating and maintaining accurate records and/or case histories
- A full, valid driving licence (to visit sites in often remote locations)
