Distribution Centre layout Analyst (interim)

Posted by Little Orchard Search and Selection.

This is an interim opportunity to join a leading NW based catering consumables company as they finalise the set up of a new Distribution centre.

My client is a leading catering equipment supplier based in Stockport, Cheshire. Trading for 150 years, they are regularly first to market with industry leading innovation whilst maintaining strong connections to the past and a keen eye for the future. They are proud to supply equipment to bars, restaurants, pubs, hotels and all other catering and hospitality businesses.

We are looking for a friendly and skilled Distribution Centre Layout Analyst to help us design the perfect layout for our new, spacious distribution centre.

About the Role: Our current site is outdated and congested, with teams of around 12 people handling stock receipt and put-away, and another 12 pickers and packers preparing pallets for delivery. We are moving to a new distribution centre with more space, and we need you to design a layout that will improve our stock receipt, put-away, picking, and distribution processes.

Your Goal: By mid-September (or earlier if possible), create a detailed planogram for our new distribution centre. This planogram will show the best locations for our 5,500 products of various sizes and weights, ensuring efficient item turnaround, space utilisation, and workflow optimisation.

What You'll Do:

  •  Initial Analysis: Review our current warehouse operations. Analyse supply order quantities, sales roll-out rates, stock levels, and turnover periods.
  •  Data Collection: Collect and review extensive data to ensure operational efficiency. Work with warehouse staff to find the best stock locations based on size and bin locations.
  •  Planogram Development: Create a detailed planogram for the new DC, showing the agreed stock and storage locations. Recommend the best spots for put-away, picking, and distribution processes.
  •  Reporting and Recommendations: Produce a comprehensive planogram document and a detailed report with findings and actionable recommendations. Present and explain the proposed planogram, including insights on stock locations, sales data, and purchasing data.

We are looking for

  •  Experience with warehouse operations, including receipt, put-away, picking, and distribution.
  •  Strong analytical skills for data collection and analysis.
  •  Ability to create detailed planograms and comprehensive reports.
  •  Excellent communication skills and a friendly, helpful attitude.
  •  Specialist analytical experience in a similar role is essential.

Why Join Us? Opportunities to plan the layout of a distribution centre are rare and crucial. This is a business-critical objective, supporting our move to a new distribution centre. You'll play a vital role in designing a better layout, ensuring smoother operations and improved efficiency. This is a temporary assignment, with delivery required asap. If you're up for the challenge and want to be part of an exciting transition, we want to hear from you!
