Posted by Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited.

Your new company
Your new company is a local authority located in northern Greater Manchester which has years of extensive building services experience while delivering high-quality designs and solutions to the community, gaining the trust of community members and stakeholders alike. The current range of projects include: offices, commercial developments, shopping centres, town developments, leisure centres and around 70 schools. The team consists of 15 staff working a hybrid model for 60% in the office and site visits and 40% home. The office is located in the town centre, close to public transport hubs and free staff car parking dotted around the area close to the office.

Your new role
Your new role will see you working as a Mechanical Engineer across the multiple schemes mentioned above, and will involve site visits, client and stakeholder meetings, conceptual and detailed design, completing asset reports and delivering cost-saving methods across multiple sites in a 'clerk of works' capacity.
You will be making cost-saving decisions, talking to site engineers about design solutions and reporting back to the design leader.

What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you will have either a HNC, HND, or a degree in building services/ mechanical engineering. You will have a minimum of 5 years' UK building services experience and although Local Authority experience isn't a requirement, it would be advantageous to any applicant.
This role will involve a good amount of verbal and written discussion with clients and stakeholders, so the ability to communicate clearly is a must. You will also be conscientious, an active listener, and have the ability to use your initiative on a daily basis to make on-site decisions that people competing in physical buildings cannot make on your behalf.

What you'll get in return
In return, you will receive a highly competitive salary, a good state pension, free car parking and financial support for your qualifications as you progress throughout your career.
You will be working for an organisation that truly cares about your career and works together as a team to deliver high-quality results for the wider community.
