What your day would typically look like in this role:
Your day will be dynamic and fulfilling, beginning with a morning briefing with the music department to discuss the day's schedule and any upcoming events. You'll then move on to conducting engaging and interactive music lessons to all Ks3 and Ks4 students, where you'll teach them about music theory, history, and practical skills across different instruments. Lunchtime provides an opportunity to supervise and mentor students in the music club or offer additional practice sessions. The afternoon might involve coordinating with other faculty members on interdisciplinary projects or rehearsing with the school choir or orchestra for an upcoming performance. Your day concludes with a reflection to review progress and plan for future lessons.
Ideal candidate:
We are looking for an individual who embodies passion for music and education, with the following qualifications and skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Teaching certification - UK QTS, PGCE or equivalent
- Proven experience in teaching music at various educational levels
- Proficiency in multiple musical instruments
- Strong knowledge of music theory, history, and diverse musical genres
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to inspire and motivate students
- Creative and innovative teaching methods
- Commitment to professional development and continuous learning
