Teaching Assistant (Special Educational Needs) - Supporting Non-Verbal Children with Learning Difficulties
Are you passionate about making a difference in children's lives? Do you have the patience, empathy, and creativity to help non-verbal students unlock their full potential? We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a team and support children with learning difficulties, particularly those who are non-verbal.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with classroom teachers to provide tailored support for non-verbal students with learning difficulties.
- Use a variety of communication tools and methods such as Makaton, PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), and assistive technology to engage and connect with students.
- Assist in the development of individualised learning plans to help students achieve their academic and personal goals.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, ensuring every child feels valued and supported.
- Support children in both academic and social activities, helping them build confidence, independence, and essential life skills.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to teachers, therapists, and parents.
What We're Looking For:
- Experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN), particularly those who are non-verbal.
- Knowledge of communication systems such as Makaton or PECS (training can be provided).
- Patience, creativity, and a nurturing approach to supporting children's unique learning styles.
- A team player with excellent communication skills and a strong sense of empathy.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Qualifications:
- Experience in SEN or a related field is preferred.
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or a similar qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
- First Aid and Safeguarding training (desirable but not essential).

Location:Camden
Hours: Full-time, 8:30am-4pm, 5 days a week
Salary: £85-£105 per day
