Job Role

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Council Homes team and support the delivery of the Council's high-profile building safety, decency and compliance programmes investing in existing homes to a value of circa £50m-£60m per annum.

These projects will have a significant impact on improving homes across the borough and delivering safe, secure, decent and sustainable homes to residents.

The successful candidate will be required to independently manage their workload and support and motivate colleagues to deliver high quality outcomes. You must be an experienced procurement and commercial manager with an extensive knowledge of services and construction contracts.

In this role you will be required to work closely with both internal stakeholders and external organisations. You will be required to have extensive experience in negotiating and drafting construction works and services contracts.

Experience of delivering procurements within public sector procurement governance structures is integral to this role, as well as experience in working with a specialist team to develop specifications and other contract documents. The successful candidate should be able to review contract models and be able to advise project teams of the options available to them.

This role involves an in-depth knowledge of contract management and delivering works within the budgetary constraints ensuring value for money and ensuring the Council's resources are maximised and residents benefit from improved services and social value investment alike. The appointed candidate will also be expected to manage negotiations and contractual disputes on behalf of the council, reporting outcomes and impacts on governance, budgetary and contractual positions to the Head of Contract Delivery.

Office attendance will be required 1 or 2 days per week, sometimes with short notice.
