Building Surveyor

Posted by Key Recruitment Ltd.

So, you're a Building Surveyor on the search for a new job.

As a B&CE Surveyor, you should have experience within the commercial built environment, and be able to assess the condition of building elements/fabric, suggesting when they should be replaced. Specialist knowledge in one or more construction or hard Facilities Management disciplines will come handy in this role, and you should understand estate management on large estates.

Identifying and analysing defects and dilapidations and scrutinising proposals for repair are crucial aspects of this job. This includes the ability to carry out feasibility studies and to articulate compelling reports, which means you need to be IT literate on MS Office as well as the use of tablets.

Another key responsibility of this role is the preservation/conservation of historic and listed buildings. And you should be able to advise team members on all required works to meet changes in legislation/standards.

In addition, knowledge of CAD (version LT 2013), RFHI survey, familiarity with SPONS/SOR's and detailed knowledge of the construction industry would be desirable to be successful in this role.

You should have a minimum HNC/HND level or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline and a trade background or a minimum three years in a similar role.

A degree in a relevant discipline (either completed or still studying) would also be desirable, as well as membership of, or working towards a recognised professional body such as RICS or CIOB.

This is a fixed term position for 12 months.
