About the role
We have a new and exciting opportunity for a Principal Data Scientist to join the Society's Data Office.
The Principal Data Scientist will play a pivotal role in maturing the Society's data science capabilities and will be required to define new approaches for data science. Assisting in the shaping of the data science framework in the Society this person will be responsible for coaching our team of data scientists and machine learning engineers in programming and data science tools, statistical and mathematical techniques.
The person in post will lead complex projects and initiatives which drive strategic decision-making and generate insights and value from the Society's data using data science and advanced analytic tools, technologies and techniques.
The Principal Data Scientist will work closely with business stakeholders to understand their challenges and opportunities and will provide thought leadership and coordinate the delivery of solutions in support of member outcomes and the Society's strategic plan.
About you
As an experienced leader you'll be able to lead teams and provide ongoing coaching and oversight over the development of data products through an agile methodology.
You'll have proven experience of developing and implementing Machine Learning algorithms from unstructured and structured large data sets as well as an in depth understanding of modelling techniques such as gradient boosted machines, deep learning, forecasting, optimisation, simulation and reinforced learning.
You'll also have excellent knowledge of the development and productionisation of machine learning models with working knowledge and experience of cloud-based infrastructure.
