Wood Machinist

My client in the LS9 area of Leeds require an experienced Wood Machinist.

Job Overview

You will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining woodworking machinery to cut, shape, and form wood components.

Duties and Responsibilities

Set up and operate woodworking machines such as edgebanders, saws, sanders, and CNC machines

Read and interpret technical drawings to determine the required dimensions and shapes of wood components

Select and prepare wood materials for machining, ensuring they meet quality standards

Load and unload materials and products from machines

Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications

Troubleshoot when production issues occur and fix any minor issues where possible

Undertake equipment inspection, maintenance and cleaning in accordance with instructions

Work to company policies and procedures at all times

Comply with quality standards always

Always carry out tasks in line with health and safety requirements

Carry out general housekeeping to ensure your workstation is clean, tidy and free from hazards

Proactively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Person Specification

You will be a highly motivated, driven individual who puts our customer at the centre of everything you do. You will contribute to the growth and success of our business through your skills and experience and you will have:

Proven experience as a wood machinist or similar

Strong understanding of woodworking machinery and tools

Excellent attention to detail

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make adjustments as needed

Good punctuality, time management and task management skills

The ability to work from technical drawings and follow written instructions

The ability to work individually with minimum supervision and as part of a team
